ABOUT ME!

(the extended version.)

Riley is an actor and director from the Portland, Maine area. She is currently in her final semester of the Battle To Obtain Her Musical Theatre BFA at Long Island University Post and plans to return to the great state of Maine following her victory in war (graduation).

With a versatile mezzo soprano voice and extensive background in physical theatre training, Riley brings a certain power and specificity to her performances. She is passionate about contemporary, experimental theatre and the development of new works while also maintaining a classic, Golden Age allure.

During her time at LIU Post, Riley has discovered an intense love for the Suzuki method of actor training, Laban, and Viewpoints. She is endlessly grateful for the opportunity to train with professionals in the field including Tina Mitchell (SITI Company, Suzuki Company of Toga [SCOT]), Akiko Aizawa (SITI Company, SCOT), Leon Ingulsrud (SITI Company, SCOT) and Matthew Mastromatteo. She is currently a Suzuki Teaching Assistant under Akiko Aizawa for the spring semester.

From an early age, Riley learned to sew and quilt from her grandmothers and works in her college theatre’s costume shop as an attendant. She has experience as head of wardrobe, wardrobe run, laundry, hair & makeup, alteration, and is looking to improve her skills in costume construction.

Outside of her theatrical pursuits, Riley can usually be found somewhere outdoors in the dirt, out on the water, or holed away in her makeshift art studio. She loves to collect as many hobbies as humanly possible. Enrichment! She especially enjoys hiking, kayaking, gardening, cake decorating, painting, curating her vintage clothing collection, party planning, buying antique dishes at goodwill, eating an absolutely ungodly amount of seafood, and making her way through her EXTENSIVE list of classics to read and horror films to watch. The latest art form she has started to tackle is traditional Abenaki sweetgrass basketweaving, which her grandmother has begun to pass down to her.

Riley strives to always incorporate a respect and reverence for the natural world in her practice. In her spare time (…) she loves to explore issues in sustainability, conservation, paleoanthropology, and microbiology.
